Falling For Fenty

Natasha Sidiropoulos

Just two weeks ago, Rihanna, pop and RnB sensation, released her long-awaited cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty.

And while Rihanna is very well known for her often eccentric and unpredictable fashion, her packaging choices for Fenty Beauty scream anything but.

While it shouts its exclusivity in the pretty creams, the plain and geometric style shapes of the bottles and brushes invite all to pick one up and head to the counter.

Thankfully, I managed to get my hands on a few of the items, and I’m glad to report the quality of the product itself far surpasses what its packaging suggests.

In other words, they’re some of the best makeup products I’ve gotten my hands on in a longtime.

I made the special journey to Chadstone just so I could peruse the entire line without the added stress of waiting in an online queue and being disappointed when they sold out.

Sephora, my Australian friends, actually stocks Fenty Beauty. And while majority of the products there are more than likely to break your bank account, I was ecstatic to find that Rihanna’s cosmetics are more than what I’d call reasonable for such pigmented and beautifully crafted products.

At only $50AUD, I was able to get my hands on 32ml of her Pro Filt’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, which is hands-down the best foundation I’ve bought this year. For someone who suffers from an oily T-Zone, the foundation stuck to my face without sinking into my pores and gunking around my nostrils.

And who doesn’t want to shine like diamonds in the sky with her super-pigmented highlighters? From gold to purple, her highlighters are suitable for all skin tones and occasions and can even, I’ve found, double as eye shadows or lip shimmers.

The best part about the Fenty Beauty line? Not only are there an entire range of products, unlike the usual slow-release of many celebrity products, Rihanna has mad available foundation, highlighters, primer, conceal and contour kits, blotting items, and brushes and other tools; there’s more than enough product to go around for everyone.

The Sephora stand dedicated only for Rihanna was more than well-stocked, even as it was swarmed by dozens of women.

So head over to your closest Sephora, or jump onto the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna website and fill your cart with these goodies: trust me, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
