Our Favourite 5 Lipsticks to last you all day!
When it comes to lipstick, it is a constant struggle to find the perfect one. What are the best shades? What will stay on while I’m eating? What’s easy to re-apply? Will it bleed? Am I spending too much?
There are plenty of questions to ask, however we are here with all of your answers. We have dug around our lipstick collections to find the perfect lipstick to meet your needs!
Traditionally, a matte finish will be longer lasting. Lately, the liquid lipstick trend has been all the rage – goes on like a gloss, dries down with a budge-proof matte finish. However, liquid lipsticks aren’t your only answer to vibrant colour that lasts all day!

THE ULTIMATE LIQUID LIP
Too Faced “Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick” – $30 at Mecca
There is no liquid lip we could recommend more than these beauties from Too Faced. They have the right combinations of everything – Long lasting, vibrant colours, not drying on the lips, no patchiness, minimal cracks and crumbling… you’ll be reaching for these everyday. These apply easily and are full of colour, so lining your lips prior to application is not a necessity. There is a wonderful colour range for every look – beautiful nudes and mauves for the more conservative and bright reds and oranges for those a little daring.
Colour Crush: Child Star, Sell Out, Mrs Roper
The Downfall: They don’t smell great. However, it’s a minimal issue in an otherwise perfect liquid lipstick.
LIPSTICK ON A BUDGET
Colourpop “Ultra Matte Liquid Lip” – $6 USD (Aprox $8 AUD) on Colourpop.Com
There is a constant buzz surrounding Colourpop products, and there is no surprise as to why. They’ve hit the perfect balance of quality products at affordable prices. If you are looking to try out some awesome liquid lipsticks but not spend a fortune, then we couldn’t recommend these enough. Guaranteed these will not budge off your lips for ages, and the colour range is enormous that you are bound to find at least 10 shades that draw you in!! There is also an Ultra Satin Lip line, for those who don’t want something as drying.
Colour Crush: Clueless, Beeper, Notion
The Downfall: These do have the ability to dry your lips out – however; you will find that with most liquid lipsticks. Try exfoliating and moisturising your lips before applying the lipstick for a more comfortable wear throughout the day
THE CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICK
These lip paints from Tarte are a real winner. While they give a matte finish, they remain creamy on the lips, giving you ultimate comfort throughout the day. The colour range is fun and exciting, and there is bound to be something for everyone. You will need to re apply these once or twice throughout the day, however they glide on easily and your lips will be left looking as good as new.
Colour Crush: Namaste, TBT, Frenemy
The Downfall: The darker colours do have a tendency to bleed. Try lining your lips prior to wearing the lip paints to prevent bleeding and to lengthen the lifespan of your look. There are matching TARTE LIP CRAYON ($26) available, to pair with the colour of your lip paint.
THE LIPSTICK SPLURGE
Burberry “Lip Velvet” – $50 at Sephora
While liquid lipsticks and lip paints are so hot right now, nothing will ever compare to a traditional lipstick. We have tried countless lipsticks from all our favourite brands, however we always go back to Burberry. While it does carry a higher price tag, it is worth every dollar. The Lip Velvet glides so smoothly and perfectly onto the lips, and it is bursting with colour. It applies evenly every time, and the formula is absolutely flawless. It is incredibly hydrating and it gives a long-lasting matte finish.
Colour Crush: Poppy Red, Rose Blush, Russet
The Downfall: This isn’t a liquid lip, so it will come off throughout the day. It will, however, re apply evenly after eating so you can be guaranteed a flawless reapplication for the rest of the day.
THE UP AND COMER
Huda Beauty “Liquid Matte Lipstick” – $35 at Sephora
Famously known for her phenomenal lashes, Huda Beauty recently launched a liquid lipstick and liner collection. While these beauties only recently hit the shelves, they have been flying out the door faster than you can say “Oh My Lipstick!” The shade range includes deeper nudes, mauves, pinks and browns, while a bright red and pink also make an appearance. These are super comfortable and don’t dry your lips out, making it an obvious choice for a full days wear.
Colour Crush: Heart Breaker, Venus, Spice Girl
The Downfall: These bad boys are so popular; they’ll be tricky to get your hands on. Be quick or miss out!!
