New York Fashion Week’s Hottest Beauty Trends

By Abigail Jones

And in a blur, the buzz of New York Fashion Week for Spring 2018 has come to a close.  The week that all beauty and fashion A-Listers and enthusiasts alike had dog-eared in their calendars certainly fulfilled expectations, with mesmerizing displays of iconic and inspiring looks.  If you missed the spectacular event, or just want a recap of the week’s hottest beauty trends, we at Beautifinda have got you covered!  Here’s a summary of our favourite looks:

Tom Ford – Glitter glamour

The eyes were a definite focus of drama and glam for a number of Spring 2018 runway looks.  Tom Ford’s sparkly collection featured not only sequined sleeved dresses, but bold, glitter-topped black liner in a rounded wing shape.  Make-up artist Pat McGrath was surely thinking of our many failed attempts of flawless winged-liner when he created this look, and boy has he made our eye-lining days infinitely less stressful! The rounded wing shape is so much easier to achieve than the delicate, fiddly and often meltdown-inducing point or flick with which we usually line out lids.  This is a look we’re definitely expecting to see circulating off the runway.

Novis – Bold and beautiful

A ray of sunshine-yellow coated the lids of the models of the Novis Spring 2018 collection.  Bold, bright and beautiful, the burst of colour brought a sense of vibrancy to the vintage botanical inspiration behind the designs.  You can replicate this look from makeup artist Uzo by dusting your lids with a soon-to-be released Nars shade – the Duoro Single Eyeshadow.  We can expect the powder eyeshadow to be lining the shelves in the New York Spring (aka Autumn for us Aussies).

Marc Jacobs – Eyes only

Marc Jacob never disappoints, and this fashion week was no exception as his models rocked a makeup look that was all about the eyes.  Minimal foundation, natural lips and striking black cat-eyes – OH MY! Makeup artist Diane Kendal used an assortment of Marc Jacobs pen-liners to decorate the eyes in styles to suit each eye-shape.  Lip balm paired with sheer beige lipstick kept the lips looking natural. Again, we have been blessed with a look that not only slays on the catwalk, but can be replicated at home!

Fenty Puma – Strobe sensation

We loved seeing Rihanna’s hot-to-trot Spring 2018 collection paired with her new makeup line – sportswear has never looked more enticing.  Models’ eyelids, cheekbones, temples and cupid’s bows were brilliantly strobed with a combination of cream and powder highlighters to add an unreal tri-coloured shimmer.  While RiRi’s look may be a bit too dramatic to add to our every-day make-up routine, we’re sure it will bring out your inner Bad Gal.

While September’s NYFW was showcasing collections to be launched in Spring next year, who says you have to wait until Spring to incorporate these looks into your glam routine? What make-up look will you be sporting?
