Trending Valentine’s Day Tutorials

By Marnie Cohen

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! On February 14th, we celebrate a day of love across the globe. Now for me, my one true love is make-up and that is very much the same for many of our favourite Youtubers. When there is a holiday, festivity or an exciting event coming up, the beauty community goes into meltdown and all of the best make-up tutorials come to life. Today, I have gathered my favourite Valentine’s Day looks and each is so different from the other, I can guarantee you’ll find something you like!

The Classic Look: Nikki Tutorials

Nikki Tutorials is one of the best, and there were no doubts that she’d deliver something special for Valentine’s Day. Nikki has combined a subtle warm smoky eye, with a red matte lip achieving a simple yet sophisticated look. One really cool thing about Nikki’s look is that the featured eyeshadow palate is by drugstore brand e.l.f cosmetics (Mad for Matte 2), which retails at $30. Not only a simple look but also an affordable one to achieve!

Deep Red Romance: Carli Bybel

When I think of love and romance I instantly think of the colour red. This is my absolute favourite Valentine’s Day tutorial that I found and with good reason. Carli Bybel took the traditional ‘light romantic’ smoky eye, and turned into a deep cherry, super dramatic look. She also included a pop of glitter in the centre of her lid, just to give you something a little extra. The red lip compliments the rest of the look perfectly, however for those wanting to tone it down, I think a brown-based/more neutral nude lip would work great as well. Carli ticked all the boxes, and won my heart over with her look.

The Simple Day and Drastic Night: Hannah Renee

I found more of the Valentine’s looks had pops of colour and were on the more dramatic side, which is why Hannah Renee’s tutorial was brilliant. She’s given viewers two looks in the one tutorial – a soft pink smoky eye and nude gloss lip for the daytime and a dramatic thick wing and deep lipstick for the night. Both of Hannah’s looks stick perfectly to the Valentine’s theme and give those watching an option for a more simple or dramatic look. Hannah’s day time look is my favourite of the two, but I do love the sexy and sophisticated side of the night time.

Peach Perfection: Shaanxo

Since the beginning of the year, plenty of brands have introduced peach into their collection. My personal favourite is the Too Faced ‘Sweet Peach’ collection and yes, everything does smell like peaches. IT IS AS AMAZING AS IT SOUNDS. The sweet peach eyeshadow palate is my favourite item – the colour range is magnificent; with pinks, pastel oranges and browns throughout and the quality of shadows are top notch (as are all the shadows). This palette is perfect for Valentine’s Day and I love how Shaanxo has used it to create such a gorgeous, sweet romantic look. She has also incorporated the collection’s highlight, blush and gloss into the tutorial and the finished look is just gorgeous.

Bold, Pink Glitter: James Charles

I had to include this look, simply because of how incredible it is. James Charles has delivered one super dramatic, super smoky and super hot look. He’s created a super smoky pink eye with glitter on the lid. In case that wasn’t enough for viewers, James’ topped it off with sequins and glitter falling from below the lash line. The eyes are everything and the lips are just as eye catching. This was such a fun tutorial to watch and to see James’ create something this was amazing – I can’t wait to see those brave enough to re create it!
